Yellow Lab pet portrait paintings in oil Sandy in the snow with red scarf

"Sandy"
10x8 inches / oil on panel
SOLD
Sandy, a beautiful Yellow Lab, is depicted here in a cheerful red scarf while she's paused from a moment of playing in the snow!  I loved painting her nose all covered in snow as well as her chubby tummy with the cool light of the snow reflecting upwards.

This is the third painting to be posted this week with two more planned.  Trying to catch up on orders as everything must be shipped before the holidays!  To view my curernt commission schedule please scroll down.

Having had dogs and snow (I live in Illinois), this is a wonderful painting, which not only shows a particular dog (Sandy), but reminds me of playing in the snow many years ago with the dogs I used to have. Sandy is charming; the faithful dog, watching intently. And the snow looks as if you could reach out and touch it and feel it melt in your hands. I love the snow on Sandy's muzzle--every dog I've ever seen in the snow loves to stick their noses into the snow!

Thank you SO much, Carol! I'm so glad darling Sandy has brought back such fond memories of your dogs! I agree that every dog I've ever seen romping in the snow has first stuck his nose right down into that delicate white fluff and usually comes up with a snort...and then back in again! It's much like children who just can't resist dipping their mittens in and eating what feels like air as it melts almost before hitting one's tongue! (I confess I've done that very recently, too!) Such fun! That's the joy of painting -- it seems magical that an image can recollect so many emotions. Thank you for your lovely comments, Jeanne

Sandy is my 12 year old baby. This picture captured her perfectly. Our three dogs ran and played in the snow that day until our old girl was delightfully exhausted. When she looked up at me with this sweet face covered in snow, I knew I wanted to remember her that way forever. Thank you Jeanne for making that happen.

Thank you SO much Robin for your comments! It is always a privilege to paint portraits as I feel it's a peek into the special, loving bond between people and pets. I'm so glad to have this added bit of insight into yours and Sandy's day romping with her siblings in the snow! A cherished memory that I'm honored to have contributed to. Sandy is absolutely beautiful!! Thank you again, Jeanne
